Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer at the Health & Fitness Expo:
Located at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, this two-day expo happens on Friday, September 15 and Saturday, September 16.
- Issuing registered runners their bibs
- T-shirt distribution
- Goodie bag distribution
- Merchandising
- Stocking and selling of souvenirs
Volunteer at the Start Line
Start Corrals
Each corral is numbered and corresponds with the runner’s number. Race Crew Volunteers are needed to help the runners find the correct corral and to maintain order within the corral.
Gear Check
Each runner is issued a gear bag to be used for any personal items. The gear bags are labeled and are numerically placed in the gear check area. Race Crew Volunteers are needed to check these gear bags in the correct location and assist runners in this process. Volunteers will also retrieve gear and return to each runner.
Traffic
Race Crew Volunteers are needed to help unload runners from private vehicles at the start and direct them to the refreshment tables and gear check.
Refreshments
Race Crew volunteers are needed to set up and distribute refreshments to the runners before the start of the race.
Chip Removal
Each runner is issued a timing chip that is placed on his/her shoe. Race Crew Volunteers are needed to remove these chips from the runner’s shoes so that the runner’s times can be recorded.
Refreshment Zone
Race Crew Volunteers are needed to distribute water, bananas, energy bars and other food items after runners cross the finish line.
Awards
Each runner is presented a finisher’s medal. Race Crew Volunteers are needed to award a medal to each runner.
Pedestrian Traffic Control
Race Crew Volunteers are needed to help direct runners within the finish pavilion.
Volunteer at a Water Station
Various Locations along the course
Groups of all sizes are needed to hand out water, energy replenisher and gel at the eight water stations along the course.
